UNISANNIO students triumph at the Trento Festival

The students of the University of Sannio protagonists at the Trento Festival of Economics organized by the 24 Hours Group and the Autonomous Province of Trento. Nine young people, divided into two groups, were in fact among the winners of the challenge entitled Visions of the Future launched in January by Il Sole 24 Ore and the Festival of Economics and dedicated to university students, PhD students and students of business management schools. . The initiative aimed to gather ideas and solutions to two great challenges of our time, enhancing young people: gender equality and energy transition. The students produced, individually or in groups, a paper on one of the themes, outlining possible solutions.

The students of the University of Sannio were awarded for the paper entitled Gender gap pension by Jessica Borselleca, Cristian Genito, Mattia Pizzella, Francesco Sorrentino, Immacolata Sorrentino and for the paper Gender equality - Econometric analysis on female employment and the welfare work carried out by Luca De Corso, Francesco Esposito, Fabio Iadarola, Alessandro Zerillo.

The works were evaluated by a joint commission of the 24 Ore Group and the scientific committee of the Festival chaired by the Director of Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and the Radiocor press agency Fabio Tamburini and composed by Professor Gabriella Berloffa, full professor of Political Economy at the University of Trento, by Professor Luigi Bonatti, full professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trento, by the economic historian Adriana Castagnoli, former professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.

The challenge was conceived as an open space, a first, symbolic but significant piece of a necessary confrontation between generations for the construction of a more equitable, inclusive society capable of looking to the future.

The Scientific Committee of the Festival has invited young people to be protagonists, in harmony with the theme of this edition, regarding gender equality and the energy transition.

“This award ceremony - said the director of Il Sole 24 Ore Fabio Tamburini - is part of a great Festival where I note with particular satisfaction a strong presence of young people. The new generations are the card to play for our present and for our future. Young people have the necessary energy to guarantee development ”.

A resource, the new generations, to be "valued and listened to in order to create a more inclusive society together", as stated by Mirja Cartia d’Asero, managing director of the 24 Hours Group.

In evaluating the proposals received by young people, particular attention was paid - explained Professor Gabriella Berloffa of the University of Trento - to the role of training, to the long-term vision and to the discussion of the relationship between the condition of women and work.
