END OF LIFE – BIOETHICAL DILEMMAS AND LEGAL ISSUES

The University of Sannio is hosting the Annual Conference of the Interuniversity Centre for Bioethics Research (CIRB), focusing on one of the most complex topics in bioethical and legal debates: end-of-life decisions.

The event will bring together scholars and experts in law, medicine, and philosophy to discuss constitutional issues, bioethical implications, and legal frameworks related to end-of-life choices. The programme includes contributions from constitutional lawyers, legal scholars, bioethicists, and institutional representatives, including members of the academic community, the healthcare sector, and the Bar Association.

The conference will be structured into two sessions:

• Morning session (10:00 AM – 1:30 PM): A focus on legal and bioethical aspects, covering topics such as end-of-life provisions, the role of the healthcare system, and the philosophical implications of medically assisted dying.
• Afternoon session (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM): An exploration of informed consent, personal autonomy, and the right to refuse treatment, with a comparative legal perspective.

The event will conclude with a session of scheduled contributions, offering a platform for researchers and specialists in the field.
