The Italian Geological Society and the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology present the tenth edition of "Le Distinguished Lectures", a series of itinerant conferences that each year are offered at 6 venues.
Each cycle deals with a theme from different perspectives by speakers who will present their own recent, innovative and critically provocative research.
The two conferences are held jointly and are aimed at students, doctoral candidates, fellows and researchers.

First appointment on 6 March 2025, at 11:00 am, at the Educational Center of DST "Cube" - Classroom 7 - Via dei Mulini, 74 - BENEVENTO.

The theme of the 10th Cycle of Distinguished Lectures is "Geosciences for Archaeology: the case of Pompeii" and will be treated with contributions from:

- Claudio Scarpati (University of Naples "Federico II") "The Vesuvian eruption of 79 AD and the destruction of Pompeii";
- Celestino Grifa (University of Sannio) "Pompeii a treasure chest of geological discoveries: the contribution of mineralogy and petrology".

Speakers will visit 7 research departments/institutions in the period January 2025 - May 2025.
