Work is underway to upgrade the educational complex in Via delle Puglie.

The Ministry of Research University has allocated EUR 6.5 million to the University of Sannio for a significant energy, plant, structural and architectural upgrade of the building that houses classrooms, laboratories and offices of the DEMM Department.

The project ranked fifth among the 43 state universities with access to contributions from the Fund for Building and Research Infrastructures. The project also benefits from over EUR 4 million in funding from the Campania Region for an overall project total of over EUR 10 million.

The 6,200-square-metre structure of the University of Sannio will be entirely redeveloped with NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) level energy efficiency. The project envisages the redevelopment of the roofs with the creation of a roof garden and outdoor spaces, with the elimination of internal parking areas, the creation of equipped spaces usable by students, and the insertion of new tree planting.

The project incorporates the criteria and technical choices identified based on environmental, economic and social sustainability principles, carefully considering the specific territorial context.

The project is in complete continuity with what has already been implemented in the nearby didactic complex in Via dei Mulini, home to the Department of Science and Technology, and with the PalaUNISANNIO sports facility.

The extensive building redevelopment plan affecting UNISANNIO finds another significant support, confirming the validity of the project ideas that have been put in the field,’ says Rector Gerardo Canfora. Our vision of a modern and sustainable urban campus, fully integrated into the city centre, was born and realised to quickly deliver to the student community ever more beautiful and welcoming places where they can train, grow in skills, and thoroughly enjoy the university experience.
