Inauguration of the course in Motor Science in the new PalaUNISANNIO
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, the University of Sannio inaugurated its new degree program in Motor Science for sport and health at PalaUNISANNIO, a modern structure dedicated to sports and academic activities. The event marked an important step for the university, which promotes innovative and comprehensive training in the field of sports sciences.
The ceremony was opened with institutional greetings from the rector Gerardo Canfora, the mayor of Benevento Clemente Mastella, the president of the province Nino Lombardi and the director of the Department of Science and Technology Pasquale Vito, followed by a round table of sports champions. Finally, the boxer Patrizio Oliva gave the audience an exciting show.
Rector Canfora commented: "With the activation of the degree course in Motor Sciences, the University of Sannio takes a further step in enhancing its training offer, aiming to train professionals capable of working competently in sport and health. The redevelopment of university buildings, of which the PalaUNISANNIO is the most recent example - continued Prof. Canfora - contributes to transforming the university and the city itself, creating more and more functional spaces for training and innovation. Soon we will see the realization of the new educational center of Via delle Puglie, as a testimony to our commitment in this change process".
The event was followed by a round table with the participation of significant figures in sport: Manfredo Fucile, former basketball player and regional councilor of CONI, Nicolò Manfredini, goalkeeper of Benevento Calcio, Patrizio Oliva, legendary boxer and Olympic champion, and Davide Tizzano, a top-skater and sports executive, two times Olympic gold. The discussion, moderated by journalist Claudio Coluzzi, touched on topics such as sports careers, the importance of training and challenges related to the world of sport.
The day ended with the theatrical show "Patrizio VS Oliva", taken from the book Sparviero - My story, in which Patrizio Oliva has revisited his life on the ring and outside, together with actress Rossella Pugliese. On stage, in an emotional imaginary ring, Oliva shared his personal and sporting battles with the audience, combining theatre with sport. It was a show full of emotions and reflections, which touched the hearts of all those present.
