Services
Services Provided by the Library
The Library's services are available to the following users:
- Library stakeholders: students enrolled in the University of Sannio's degree programs, faculty, researchers, postdoctoral researchers, scholarship holders, PhD students, and technical-administrative staff. This category also includes individuals with a formal academic or professional relationship with one of the SHARE Agreement partner organizations, as well as exchange students and faculty from partner institutions.
- Other users: anyone who does not fall under the above category. They can access the library facilities and use the consultation service for available library and documentary resources, upon registering in the university’s library system and providing a valid ID. The ID will be returned when the requested materials are returned.
Consultation
Consultation of bibliographic and documentary materials at the BCA is available to all users (both stakeholders and external users). Materials can be requested either at the front desk or directly from the online catalog (OPAC). For consultation, the user must sign a specific form, electronically completed by the library staff, for each bibliographic unit requested, and deposit a valid ID. Each user may consult up to 3 volumes of monographs or 5 issues of periodicals at a time. In the interest of continuous study, a reasonable and agreed-upon period for keeping the requested works in consultation may be arranged.
The materials must be consulted within the library and cannot be taken outside without permission. Materials must be returned at least 10 minutes before closing time. Items that are not yet inventoried, stamped, cataloged, labeled, damaged, or otherwise excluded from service by the BCA manager for preservation reasons are not available for consultation.
The borrowed materials must be returned in the same condition as received, without any alterations or damage (e.g., underlining, annotations, highlighting, missing pages, etc.), in order to avoid penalties.
Loan service
The loan service is managed by the library staff using computerized procedures. Stakeholders are entitled to external loans, while other users may access the service upon a guarantee from a faculty member or the BCA manager. In specific cases requiring particular protection measures, the BCA manager may temporarily restrict loan privileges, noting this in the online catalog. For justified study purposes, the BCA manager may authorize the loan of materials that are normally available for consultation only.

Weekend Loan
The Head of the BCA, for justified study reasons, can authorize the short-term loan of volumes in unique copies, from Friday until 9:00 AM on the following Monday.
Holiday Loan
The Head of the BCA, for justified study reasons, may authorize loans during library closure periods, from the last open day until 9:00 AM on the first day of reopening.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL SBN)
The interlibrary loan service allows interlocutors to request and obtain books not available at the BCA from other Italian and foreign libraries, exclusively for personal use and for study and research purposes. The maximum number of items accepted for each request is 2 monographs per user, for a maximum of 2 times per month, with delivery times depending on the lending library's availability.
Requests for interlibrary loans must be made at the front office or via email to: biblioteca@unisannio.it. Users will be notified of the receipt of the book via email or phone, and they must pick it up or consult it within 3 days.
The service is free, but in some cases, a reimbursement of expenses may be required, which will be entirely at the user’s expense. Before submitting the request, library staff will inform the requester about any charges. Failure to pick up the book does not exempt the user from payment.
Document Delivery (DD)
Document Delivery is a service that allows users to obtain copies of journal articles and parts of books not available at the BCA, in compliance with current copyright laws.
The Library participates in the NILDE Network (Network Interlibrary Document Exchange) for document exchange.
Requests for document delivery must be made at the front office or via email to: biblioteca@unisannio.it.
The maximum number of requests accepted per week is ten (10) for interlocutors and seven (7) for other types of users.
The service is free; however, any reimbursement for expenses requested by the supplying libraries will be charged to the user after prior notification.
Requests can only be canceled if not yet processed. Users are not allowed to cancel their commitment to pay any required fee for the service.
Copies of requested documents must be picked up at the library and signed for.
