Appia: dust and history

Appia: dust and history
Arte è Scienza is the national exhibition organized by the Italian Association of Archeometry (AIAr) that wants to be an opportunity to reflect on the vital relationship between cultural assets and scientific techniques in the study of archaeological sites and finds, in the reconstruction of the historical environment, in the diagnosis of works of art, in the preservation of our artistic and cultural heritage.
THE DUST AND HISTORY
The Via Appia, known as "Regina Viarum", is one of the oldest and most important Roman roads, built in 312 B.C. by Appio Claudio Cieco to connect Rome to Brindisi. With over 2300 years of history, it has been a crucial artery for trade, communications and military operations. On 27 July 2024, the site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, confirming its inestimable historical and cultural value.
