The University of Sannio is pleased to host the presentation of the book MARMORA. History and Symbolism in the Roman World by Italo Abate, which will take place on 27th November 2024, at 11:00, in the Meeting Room DST - Research Complex, Via F. De Sanctis.

Author's Biography
Italo Abate, a scholar of the ancient Mediterranean and President of Ambiente e Cultura Mediterranea, has published several notable works, including:  
- I marmi colorati del Mediterraneo antico (2015)  
- Mediterraneità (with M. Grotta, 2017)  
- Procida. La mediterraneità dell’isola flegrea tra le memorie del passato per immaginare il futuro (2022, Emily Dickinson International Literary Prize).

The Book
MARMORA is a highly valuable and scientifically rigorous study on the use of marble in the Roman world, spanning both architectural and artistic design. Enriched with over 150 images, scientific classifications, maps, and diagrams, the book offers a comprehensive view of the marble heritage across the Roman Empire, with a particular focus on Rome and the Italian peninsula.
