On 19th December 2024, starting from 9:30 AM, a seminar organised by INAPP (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and the University of Sannio will take place at the University of Sannio, Piazza Guerrazzi 1, Benevento, and online. The event will focus on the new challenges and opportunities that the gig economy presents for labour regulation.

In recent years, advancements in information technologies – including big data, artificial intelligence, and robotics – have profoundly transformed the economy and the world of work. The gig economy paradigm has opened up new opportunities for economic growth but has also raised critical issues for policymakers and regulators, such as informational asymmetries and power imbalances between platforms and workers, as well as the risks of algorithmic discrimination.

In this complex context, it is crucial to develop scientific, cultural, and operational tools that can analyse the social, legal, and ethical implications of these processes, while ensuring effective protection of rights in an increasingly hybrid reality where technology, economy, and society are inextricably intertwined.

The seminar aims to promote an interdisciplinary discussion on the emerging topics of the gig economy, involving scholars and experts from various disciplines to stimulate a critical and shared reflection.
