On Wednesday 6 April a seminar will be held to present Cinzia Scaffidi's book "Profit and care. Sustainability and voices we have never heard", with the presence of the author. The seminar will take place in the Ciardiello classroom at 11.00.

Over the centuries, the world of food production has done everything to adapt to industrial models, trying to meet the needs of the market and neglecting those of nature. In the choice between profit and sustainability, profit has always won, at a production level, at an organizational level and at a regulatory level. Now that this system shows in many ways all its dangers and weaknesses, we are moving towards the so-called "ecological transition". Could we have done it sooner? Of course, if we had listened to the "dissonant" voices that from so many fields - poetry, literature, science, philosophy, activism - were asking, even in unsuspecting times, respect for resources, for natural equilibrium, for the well-being of all. There are many authors who today could say "I said so!": It is time to pay homage to them and to reread their writings with a new attention. From the Bible to Marx, from Giorgio Caproni to Laura Conti, from D.H. Lawrence to Rachel Carson, from Jean Jono to Carol Anne Duffy, the many voices of the past and the present that the globalization of politics and production has not been able and wanted to hear, in a book that tries to re-tie the threads of an awareness that today can be of great help.
