University Building in Via delle Puglie: from the MUR 6 and a half million euros
The Ministry of the University of Research assigns 6 and a half million euros to the University of Sannio for an important energy, plant, structural and architectural redevelopment of the building in Via delle Puglie.
The project, which involves the building currently housing the DEMM Department, was placed fifth in the ranking of the 43 state universities that had access to contributions from the Fund for construction and research infrastructures. The intervention also makes use of a loan of over 4 million from the Campania Region for a total project of over 10 million euro.
The 6,200 m2 structure of the University of Sannio will be fully redeveloped with NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) level energy efficiency. The spaces that house the classrooms, laboratories, offices, the library and the great hall will be redesigned. The project involves the redevelopment of the roofs with the creation of a roof garden and external spaces, with the elimination of internal parking areas, the creation of equipped spaces that can be used by students and with the insertion of new tree plantings.
The project incorporates the criteria and technical choices identified on the basis of principles of environmental, economic and social sustainability, with careful considerations regarding the specific territorial context.
The project is in full continuity with what has already been achieved in the nearby building in Via dei Mulini, headquarters of the Department of Science and Technology, and with the PALAUNISANNIO sports facility under construction. The works are expected to start by June 30, 2023.
“The vast building redevelopment plan that is involving UNISANNIO finds another significant support, confirming the validity of the design ideas put in place – says the Rector Gerardo Canfora -. Our vision of a modern and sustainable urban campus, fully integrated into the city center, was born and is being implemented to deliver increasingly beautiful and welcoming places to the student community in a short time in which to train, grow in skills, and fully experience the university experience " .
